Procrastination is part of everyday life for many doctoral candidates – and is much more than a lack of discipline or poor time management. It is often a form of self-protection, an indication of inner conflicts or structural challenges in the doctoral process. This workshop invites participants to take a benevolent and analytical look at their own procrastination – and to transform it step by step into viable strategies for action. The 8-hour workshop focuses on consciously examining your own procrastination behaviour and developing concrete, practical solutions for your doctoral studies.
Participants explore the question: What are the individual causes of my procrastination?
What is it currently a solution for – and what would I like to see happen instead? A targeted change of perspective opens up new ways of thinking and acting and creates space for lasting change. Discussion within the group helps participants to contextualise their individual experiences and learn from each other.
The aim of the workshop is not to ‘combat’ procrastination, but to use it as a guide – and to derive realistic, effective and self-care strategies for greater clarity, focus and productivity.
Participants will...
• learn about the main causes and functions of procrastination,
• reflect on their own procrastination patterns and recognise their potential benefits,
• develop constructive ways of dealing with procrastination,
• develop specific, individually tailored strategies for greater efficiency and productivity in their everyday doctoral studies.
