Science requires the written word. Producing extensive printed works such as a Bachelor's or Master's thesis or even a dissertation requires some "non-specialist" knowledge, particularly in the area of typography.

The LaTeX typesetting system stands out because it was created specifically for creating scientific texts. Its strength lies in the fact that LaTeX allows authors to concentrate more on the actual subject area, as LaTeX takes care of the typography of the document.

The course aims to lay the foundations for creating a complex thesis with LaTeX.

Topics include

  • the EVA principle
  • the structure of an input file
  • the creation of a PDF output file
  • Structuring the text with the help of headings
  • Creating cross-references
  • Entering formulas
  • Designing tables
  • Incorporating illustrations
  • Literature management
